Cassell D. Basnight

Cassell Davenport Basnight, one of the founders of our law firm passed away on November 13, 2013, at the age of 76. After graduating from Great Bridge High School in 1956, Cassell attended Lynchburg College and graduated in 1960. He continued his education at T.C. Williams School of Law and earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1962. Following law school Cassell returned to Great Bridge to raise his family and found his law practice that still carries his name. As a cornerstone of the community, Cassell shepherded many meaningful initiatives to include the Chesapeake Civitan Club, Chesapeake Bank and Trust and The Locks Point Restaurant, considering it a special honor to be named the founding chairman of the board for Monarch Bank. He was also instrumental in quietly mentoring countless individuals and businesses locally, giving freely of his time, energy, expertise and resources to ensure their success. He will be sorely missed by family and friends, but his legacy and generous spirit will continue.
